Starks Field Primary School

Be The Best You Can Be helps our pupils learn the importance of our six core values: kindness, respect, bravery, resilience, enthusiasm and responsibility.

  1. Curriculum
  2. RE

RE

RE is taught across the school and the units of study are taken from the Kapow curriculum, a scheme which aims to deliver high quality religious education. Within RE we learn about different communities and faiths.

The curriculum starts in Key Stage 1, developing pupils’ understanding of four key concepts: Beliefs; Practices; Wisdom and Morality; and Belonging, to help them explore and respond to ‘big questions’. This is built on as the children go into KS2, further exploring beliefs, practices, morality and belonging through meaningful discussions around big questions, such as ‘What makes us human?’, ‘Are all religions equal?’ and ‘Why does religion look different around the world?’.

At the start of every year, our RE curriculum teaches pupils to be respectful of peoples’ beliefs and faiths, in line with our British values, starting with a respectful religion and world views lesson. While we are learning about religions we also feel it is important to visit places of worship, such as a church, mosque, gurdwara or synagogue, in order to enrich pupils’ learning and provide first-hand experiences.
